The Chateau de Chimay is an ancient castle which some sources suggest may be over 1,000 years old. The Chateau sits at a strategic point along an old Roman road between France and Germany. The current petite theatre was built in 1863 by the architects Fuel and Cambon, replacing an older theatre built for Madam Tallien, who became Princess of Chimay by marriage. The theatre is a miniature replica of that of Louis XV at the chateau of Fontainebleau.
